Pema Tseden is an emerging Tibetan filmmaker who seeks to convey his homeland in an authentic way. Originally from Trika County in Qinghai Province, Pema Tseden traveled to Beijing to study cinematography at the Beijing Film Academy in order to pursue his directing skills.

Since 2002, he's produced several short movies, as well as internationally acclaimed films. The Silent Holy Stones (2003),The Grassland (2004), The Last Tibetan Shamen (2004), The Silent Mani Stones (2005) -- the most renowned -- The Search (2009), paved his way to success. He has given a voice to Tibetan contemporary culture by focusing his movies strictly on the region's evolution through time. Its shifting society can be more clearly seen through his choice of Tibetan actors, scripts, and customs. Locally based and internationally exposed, Pema Tseden plans on continuing portraying contemporary Tibet by pursuing his career as a filmmaker and cultural spreader; his next project is The Tibetan Nomad Dog (working title) to be released soon.
