Q: Can I start applying before my entrance examination scores are out and before I know if I can be admitted into an academic program?
A: Yes, you definitely should. In fact we hope that applicants start applying with us as early as they can. If you start applying only after you know you have been admitted, you will miss the application review of a given year. For details on the application and review schedule, refer to “An Introduction to Trace Foundation’s Higher Education Scholarships.”
Q: What is a “Statement of Purpose”?
A: The “Statement of Purpose” is one of the most important documents in the application process. It is used to describe your academic plans and professional goals. Please note that a “Statement of Purpose” should not be used to prove financial need.
Q: In what languages should the Statement of Purpose be written?
A: For most scholarships the Statement of purpose should be written and submitted in either Tibetan and Chinese or Tibetan and English. Different types of scholarships may require different language combinations. Please consult the appropriate application guides for details.
Q: Should the Statement of Purpose be typed or hand written?
A: The Tibetan version must be hand written; the Chinese and/or English version may be typed.
Q: If I have already provided some information in the application form about my personal experiences, can I skip compiling and submitting a separate resume?
A: No, they are not mutually replaceable. All applicants must submit a separate resume.
Q: In what languages should I submit my application for an international scholarship?
A: In addition to Tibetan and Chinese, all application materials must be submitted in English as well. Please refer to the appropriate application guides for more information.
Q: May I, as a recent graduate from bachelor’s degree studies, put in my practicum and extra-curriculum social activities in the Work Experience section of the application form?
A: Yes, you may.
Q: What formats of transcripts are considered as meeting the application requirement?
A: Transcripts must be standardized official documents provided directly by the relevant university level administrative offices (such as the Teaching Office, Student Record Office, or Office of Graduate Studies) and bear the stamps of the relevant offices. Transcripts provided by second tier academic departments or colleges are considered invalid for the purposes of this application.
