The Postgraduate Direct International Scholarships target qualified individuals who are Bachelor’s or Master’s degree holders hoping to further their studies at the Masters or PhD level. Candidates do not need to have professional experience in order to apply.
This scheme offers support for up to one year of intensive booster courses for individuals who have taken graduate entrance exams but have failed to be accepted to a graduate program due to a weakness or deficiency in one subject area. Applications will be considered from individuals who are graduating from undergraduate programs in the current year, or who have graduated within the past two years (i.e. applicants who are seeking support beginning in 2009 should have obtained their undergraduate degree in 2007 or later).
Applicants must provide their scores from their most recent attempt at the graduate entrance exams as soon as they are available. Applicants should specify which subject they need additional training in (e.g. English, Chinese, math, etc.), and should demonstrate strong performance in all other areas of the graduate exams, particularly in their chosen field of study. Strong preference will be given to those individuals who can demonstrate high levels of Tibetan language proficiency (both written and spoken), and to those who are proposing future postgraduate study in fields related, in one way or anther, to Tibetan medium education.
Up to five scholarships in this category will be awarded per year, with as many as 25 individuals receiving support by the end of the project term in 2010. The amount of individual awards will vary, but generally will not exceed 10,000 RMB per year.

However, if scores and ranking information is not available yet at the time of application, applicants must provide them as soon as they become available. It is important to note that it is not advisable to wait for scores to come out to apply because that may cause the applicant to miss our application deadlines.
