With Draynen, Derkha, & Dresil, Trace Foundation Welcomes the Year of the Iron Hare

Ornate cups of rich butter tea, elaborately carved boxes containing chemar, brightly colored butter sculptures and a herd of goats and yaks sculpted from wheat flour: these regional offerings were the centerpiece of Trace Foundation's 2011 Losar celebration. On Friday, March 25th, colleagues and friends of Trace Foundation gathered around the altars of Lhasa, Amdo and Ladakh to welcome in the Tibetan New Year with music, dance and traditional cuisine. Guests participated in circle dances, and enjoyed songs performed on the dranyen, a traditional Tibetan instrument. Trace Foundation would like to thank everyone who joined us in welcoming the Year of the Iron Hare, a peaceful and lucky year that promises growth and harmony for the Tibetan people.
