Individually packaged relief kits purchased by Trace Foundation distributed to 800 earthquake survivors in Yüshül Prefecture

The first shipment of relief goods purchased by Trace Foundation has been delivered to the quake site. This initial shipment carried supplies to address immediate needs on the ground, the most pressing being food relief and sanitation supplies. In the coming days additional shipments, based on an on-the-ground needs assessment, will be prepared and dispatched to Yülshül.

We at Trace Foundation greatly appreciate the dedication of all those who have worked tirelessly for the past weeks to make this first relief effort possible. The Foundation has worked for more than seventeen years in the affected region and we remain deeply committed to supporting the survivors of this tragedy, both now and in the long-term reconstruction effort.

Relief Goods Purchased by Trace Foundation in Transit to Quake-Stricken Yülshül Prefecture

Trace Foundation is actively supporting the ongoing relief efforts in the aftermath of the Yülshül earthquake. The first shipment of emergency relief supplies purchased by Trace Foundation is in transit to the quake stricken region. The convoy contains much needed food and personal sanitation supplies for over 800 individuals.

The 7.1 magnitude quake struck Yülshül (Chinese: Yùshù) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in southwest Qinghai province in the early morning hours on Wednesday, April 14th.  The quake has already claimed several thousand lives and destroyed as much as 80% of the buildings in the area. In the immediate aftermath of the quake there have been critical shortages of food, shelter and medical equipment. In addition, poor sanitation in the affected area presents an increased risk of epidemic.

Trace Foundation has allocated an initial sum of $100,000 USD for immediate aid to the region.  The initial shipment was stocked with supplies based on the needs identified by local contacts.  Supplies have been individually packaged for immediate distribution to the survivors.  Trace Foundation staff in Xining and Chengdu are further supporting the relief effort in local hospitals, serving as translators and offering additional support to the injured and their families. In the coming days, Trace Foundation will continue to assess the needs on the ground in order to prepare and send additional supplies to the affected region.

While Trace Foundation does not actively fundraise, a channel has been identified for donations to the quake survivors and the Foundation can facilitate the transfer of funds. 100% of all donations made to the Foundation will directly support the ongoing relief effort.
