Trace Foundation Awarded the 2008 International Non-governmental Charity Achievement Award in Beijing

Beijing, October 15, 2008 —On October 12, Trace Foundation was awarded the 2008 International Non-governmental Charity Achievement Award during the opening ceremony of the 2nd China International Charity Forum at the People's Congress Convention Center in Beijing, PR China.

The award was given in recognition of Trace Foundation's outstanding contribution to the field of charity work. There are hundreds of international charity organizations active in China.

The China International Charity Forum is a major annual convention in the field of charity and non profit work in China involving prominent domestic and international organizations.

Over the years, Trace Foundation has made a total investment of more than US$50 million in the form of 1,050+ grants and 14 projects, to contribute to the overall effort of China to develop its western regions.

Trace Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in New York City with field offices in China. The Foundation works cooperatively with local partners in order to help bring about long-term social and environmental benefits, and ensure that communities are at the center of the development process. The Foundation's work falls within four sectors: culture, education, healthcare, and rural development.

The event was organized by China International Charity Foundation (CICF), China Association for Poverty Alleviation and Development, China International Charity Forum Organizing Committee, China Buddhist Association, Editing Committee of China Charity Encyclopedia, China Center of Internet News, Guangming Daily, European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG), United Nations Initiative and Technology for the Youth, among others. It was sponsored by around 60 entities including the People's Daily, Song Qingling Foundation, China Economic Daily, China Central TV, the European Times.
