Trace Foundation's projects currently fall into three program areas:

The foundation's projects in Education seek to broaden access to educational opportunities and to improve quality of education.

Within the field of Rural Development, the foundation works with rural communities to meet the challenges and opportunities afforded by their unique environment.

Projects related to Culture focus on the production and preservation of cultural materials as part of a vibrant modern culture.

In addition, the foundation's Other Initiatives in China make the most of opportunities to enhance projects through international cooperation, and to support local communities in times of crisis through humanitarian assistance.

As much as possible, Trace Foundation seeks out projects that complement one another and support the goals of more than one program area. For example, a project in rural development that is designed to improve vocational skills may also build upon traditional cultural practices, as well as expanding educational opportunities. Similarly, many projects that are focused on rural development or culture also have an educational component.

By taking this synergistic approach, we hope to make the most of our resources, and bring the greatest possible benefit to the communities with which we work.
