Other Initiatives - Humanitarian Relief

In exceptional cases of need, Trace Foundation has provided humanitarian aid in the form of nutritional supplements and fuel to communities facing natural disasters such as the severe snowstorms that affected the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau during the winters of 1995-96 and 1997-98.



Recent Grants in Humanitarian Relief


Shanglaxiu Primary School
Yushu (Jyekundo) County, Yushu (Jyekundo) Prefecture, Qinghai (Tsongon) Province

For the purchase of grain to feed students following severe snowstorms during the winter of 1995-96. An earlier grant to the school provided funds to replenish the school’s yak herd, replacing animals lost during the snowstorms.

Jieduo Township
Jieduo (Kyedo) Township, Zaduo (Dzatoe) County, Yushu (Jyekundo) Prefecture, Qinghai (Tsongon) Province

For the purchase and distribution of animal feed and fuel to communities affected by severe snowstorms during the winter of 1997-98.

Amount of Support: $25,217

Federation of Industry and Commerce
Nierong (Nyenrong) County, Naqu (Nagchu) Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region

For the purchase and distribution of aid to communities affected by severe snowstorms during the winter of 1997-98.

Amount of Support: $37,819
