Higher Education Initiatives
Access to higher education is essential to the economic and social development of Tibetan regions. Accordingly, support for higher education initiatives is a high priority for Trace Foundation. To aid in the creation of a comprehensive education system relevant to minority populations, Trace Foundation's Higher Education Initiatives seek to expand Tibetan medium education beyond the traditional topics of Language and Literature through training, translation, and publication. Trace also sponsors promising Tibetan students and professionals seeking graduate and undergraduate education and who are committed to improving their communities. In pursuing these goals, Trace's higher education projects focus on the following strategies:
- Increasing the number of subjects taught in Tibetan;
- Translating and publishing textbooks in Tibetan for key subjects;
- Awarding undergraduate, graduate, and professional training scholarships to Tibetan- proficient professionals dedicated to strengthening the Tibetan-medium education system.
Current Trace Foundation projects in higher education:
- Tibetan Medium Higher Education Scholarships Project (Cross-regional, International)
- Tibetan English Teacher Training Project (Qinghai and Gansu Provinces)
