Across the Tibetan Plateau and throughout the Himalayas, families prepare New Year offering altars to bring blessings upon their families and homes. Comprised of the finest things available to families in each region, Losar alters offer a unique glimpse into the lives of the people of the Himalayas. Join us this Year of the Iron Hare, as we present New Year altars from Lhasa, Kham, Amdo and Ladakh, and explore the unique features of each region’s traditional offerings. Enjoy typical new year foods, momo (Tibetan dumpings), and barley beer while listening to live singing, before joining everyone in a festive Tibetan circle dance.
