Since 1993, the Library has been the premiere research library dedicated to modern Tibetan studies.

Through our unique holdings we offer scholars, researchers, and the general public a window on contemporary life on the Tibetan Plateau.

Services and Hours

Trace Foundation’s Library is free and open to the general public, no membership required. We are a nonlending library but have comfortable reading and research facilities. The library also offers a number of public programs. To schedule an appointment, please contact our librarians at 212-367-7380.

We are open by appointment only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10am to 5pm. Unable to visit the library in person? the Library also provides reference service by phone and email.
